My Story
I knew from a young age that writing was my calling. I have always turned to fictional characters to describe concepts or emotions that I have trouble facing in the mirror or discussing with others.
As the first in my immediate family to come out as gay (and FtM transgender) I grew up with a lot of confusion. I didn't know the words for what I experienced, nor did I understand exactly how I was different, only that I was.
I spent years telling myself stories in my head to explain the things I didn't understand, and over time, they developed a life of their own.
It's extremely important to me to represent a diverse range of characters in my work. In doing so, I hope others can discover aspects of themselves that they weren't aware of, or didn't have words for.
I believe that true growth is rooted in ones' understanding of themselves. Until we see our reflection clearly, we cannot begin to improve upon it.
In the Press
I chose a five star rating because this is the most realistic book I have ever read. The emotions and relationships between characters are the most honest depiction imaginable. I found myself so immersed in the main character's experiences that I felt them as my own. The imagery was very natural, I could easily see what was happening while reading the book! The modern setting combined with a new, very creative theology that's intertwined with society makes for a plot never before seen. Its so refreshing, and unique to a genre that is hard to be unique in. I am already needing the next book!! I would recommend this book to anyone with an interest in exciting fiction, lgbtq+, romance, action, and great plot twists. Would read more than once for sure!
